In a stunning development, U.S. Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) has made explosive allegations against Turning Point USA (TPUSA) and its late founder Charlie Kirk, claiming that Kirk’s sudden death was part of a cover-up tied to an internal audit uncovering massive financial fraud. Crockett further asserts that insiders — including Kirk’s widow Erika Kirk — and billionaire donors stand to benefit from the alleged scheme, pointing to abrupt staff dismissals and threats to whistle-blowers prior to the tragic event.

Crockett’s claims come amid swirling controversy around Turning Point USA, a conservative youth organisation that Kirk founded in 2012 and which has been the subject of prior financial-governance questions. According to investigative reporting, the group allegedly funnelled at least $15.2 million to companies tied to Kirk and his associates. 

In recent comments, Crockett said she has been informed of a “secret audit” conducted within TPUSA which purportedly exposed internal mis-appropriations of funds, unauthorized payments to donor-linked entities, and improper compensation schemes. According to her, the audit triggered panic among senior leadership; some staff were abruptly dismissed, donor meetings were locked down, and threats were made to those asking questions.

Crockett alleges that two days before Kirk’s fatal shooting on 10 September 2025 at an event at Utah Valley University, Messrs. and Ms. Kirk along with top executives were warned by major donors that “you’re about to be exposed” if the audit sees the light of day. Kirk’s death, originally ruled an assassination by local authorities, now takes on additional suspicious dimensions in the light of the congresswoman’s assertions. 

Turning Point USA issued a statement following Kirk’s death, describing staff as “crushed and devastated” by the “hateful murder of our founder”. foxla.com But Crockett says the public soothing message masks chaos behind the scenes. She insists that the organisation is facing an “accounting meltdown” and that powerful donors and insiders are scrambling to keep a lid on the audit findings.

What makes Crockett’s claims especially provocative is that she links them to the staff dismissals and sudden leadership shift at TPUSA. Just days after Kirk’s death his widow, Erika Kirk, was appointed CEO and board chair of the organisation. Staffers report that many roles were eliminated, and compliance and finance teams purged immediately following the event. Crockett argues these moves were meant to destroy evidence.

Meanwhile, donors reportedly reached out immediately after Kirk’s death with fresh pledges. For example, one mega-donor reportedly pledged $1 million days after the incident. theguardian.com Crockett questions whether those new funds are truly for the cause or part of a cover-up mechanism.

TPUSA remains influential: it claimed to have chapters at hundreds of colleges and high schools and raised tens of millions in recent years.  But with these latest claims, the reputation of the organisation may face a serious test.

Crockett has demanded that TPUSA release all internal audit reports, donor payment logs, and board minutes for independent review. She also called on the IRS, the Department of Justice, and congressional oversight committees to investigate. So far, there has been no public confirmation of the secret audit or the fraud she describes.

In response, TPUSA spokespeople have denied the existence of any such internal audit or cover-up, stating that they are cooperating with authorities and that Kirk’s death remains under active investigation. According to fact-check sites, many of the precise allegations remain unverified and speculative. 

Nevertheless, the combination of Kirk’s assassination, abrupt financial shifts, and a high-ranking congresswoman’s allegations puts Turning Point USA at the centre of one of the most explosive organisational scandals in recent American political‐group history.
